Sponsoring someone for a Cursillo weekend is one of the most meaningful roles in the movement. It’s not simply about signing someone up - it’s about lovingly walking with them before, during, and after their encounter with Christ.

As a sponsor, you become a living witness of Christian friendship. You prepare your candidate with prayer, encouragement, and information about the weekend. You support them during the retreat, especially through palanca and presence. And perhaps most importantly, you accompany them afterward - helping them connect to the Cursillo community, find a Group Reunion, and continue to grow in their Fourth Day.

Good sponsorship is at the heart of a strong Cursillo Movement. It ensures that each candidate has the care, context, and community they need to fully experience the grace of the weekend and beyond.

If you’re a Cursillista who knows someone longing to grow in faith, we encourage you to pray about becoming a sponsor. There is great joy in helping someone encounter Christ in a new and life-giving way.

The cost of the weekend is $175. This covers lodging, meals, and other materials. Please know, we never want money to get in the way of someone making a Cursillo weekend. While some can easily afford five times the cost of the weekend, others may not be able to pay anything. With this in mind, we ask candidates to make a payment in the amount they feel is appropriate for their personal situation. If they choose to pay more than $175, we let them know that they will be helping someone who would otherwise be unable to attend.
